Class I, Division 2 LED Light - 2 foot, 2 lamp - Corrosion Resistant Construction (Saltwater)
Part # HALP-24-2L-LED Price:
Made in the USA
The Larson Electronics HALP-24-2L-LED Hazardous Area LED Light Fixture is U.S. / Canada U.L. approved Class 1 Division 2 Groups A, B, C and D - UL 1598A listed, has a T4A temperature rating and ideal for open air hazardous locations where flammable chemical/petrochemical vapors may be occasionally encountered.
The HALP-24-2L-LED fixture is a 2 foot long, 2 lamp, UL listed Class 1 Division 2 Groups A, B, C and D hazardous area LED light and a good choice for use in applications where space is at a premium. This fixture is T4A temperature rated and comes standard with our high power and efficiency 14 watt LED lamps. This weatherproof fixture is constructed of non-corrosive materials including a polyester housing reinforced with glass fiber, a poured in gasket for reliable sealing and an impact resistant acrylic diffuser. Corrosion resistant plastic latches secure the lamp cover to the housing and provide a firm lock against the poured in seal to prevent drips and water intrusion.
This fixture is UL 844 rated Class 1 Division II, Groups A, B, C, D approved and also carries a UL 1598A outdoor marine rating and meets US Coast Guard specifications. This fixture ideal for hazardous areas where corrosion resistance is mandatory and space limitations require a compact lighting solution.

We have eliminated the ballast normally associated with fluorescent fixtures, which reduces overall weight, and helps this LED fixture maintain a T4A temperature rating. The solid state design of the LED lamps give this fixture superior resistance to damage from vibrations and extremes in temperature as well as a lamp service life over twice that of standard T8 bulbs. The 15 watt LED lamps produce more illumination than standard T8 bulbs. The LED bulbs used in this fixture are our LED T series 15 watt T17 style lamps which produce 15% more light than standard T8 bulbs when measured from eight feet. This fixture has a universal voltage ballast and works on 120-277 AC and 9-32 DC
Surface Mounting: Flange type aluminum mounts attached at each end of the fixture enables it to be simply secured to any surface. The mounts provide some shock absorbency protection while enabling the user to simply mount the fixture with the through-hole taps that protrude on each side of the fixture. The mounting holes are 14.91" inches on center apart along the top of this hazardous location light. The mounting holes are 9.5" inches on center across the top of the light.
Pendant Mounting: This light fixture can hang from the ceiling suspected by rigid pipe. Each fixture is equipped with two 3/4" NPT hubs on either side of the fixture. Operators will bring rigid pipe down to the threaded mounting ups. The wiring is fed down through the rigid pipe to one of the NPT hubs and tied to the fixture's lead wires to complete the electrical connection. The remaining pendant hub provides support for the opposite end of the fixture.
Suggested Applications: The HALP-24-2L-LED is designed for marine wet and damp locations, where corrosion resistant lights are required. This includes petrochemical facilities, lubrication pits, oil drilling rigs, crew quarters, solvent/cleaning areas, water treatment areas, processing plants and marine loading docks.

Hazardous Location Lighting Equipment: Compliance Does Not Stop at the Fixture
With all the emphasis on explosion proof lighting usually revolving around the fixtures themselves, it is very easy to overlook the fact that electrical safety and compliance with regulations relevant to the operation of electrical equipment in hazardous locations requires much more than simply choosing and installing the properly classed and approved light fixtures. NEMA Enclosure Ratings Basics for Electrical Equipment
NEMA ratings are guidelines published by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association intended to provide a homogenous system of rating electrical enclosures according to their various design parameters. NEMA ratings encompass a wide area of subjects such as protection against contact with internal parts, resistance to internal contamination from fluids, resistance to icing and external damage, and the enclosures suitability for use in various environments. IECex/ATEX and North American NEC HAZLOC Equipment Classification
North America is presently not operating with the IECex/ATEX schemes although some effort has been made to produce some homogenity between North American and European Standards, most notably the US and Canada's adoption of a Zone system (NEC 505) modeled after European Schemes. However, despite the great similarity between North American and European Zone systems, they are not identical and are not interchangeable.
Hazardous Locations: Collapse the Triangle and Prevent Ignition
With hazardous locations, it is rarely easy or practical to remove either oxygen or fuel. This is because it is impossible to operate an oxygen free environment, and the very compounds that are present are the very part of the industrial process. Thus, removing heat, or rather the source of ignition becomes the primary target for practicing prevention. Indeed, when incidents arise, it is often determined that “inadvertent ignition” had taken place. So, it is then important to identify and unders [...]
Combustible Dust Standards and Preemptive Safety
As of this writing, OSHA has yet to institute a solid set of standards for combustible dusts. Many officials adopt NFPA recommendations into their local fire codes as a result in order to attempt some level of regulatory standards across a broad spectrum. Whether or not any meaningful regulation emerges from OSHA in the near future, it is best that any industry or commercial operation associated with combustible dusts be preemptive and adhere to any local regulations as well as adopt their own m [...]
Infrared Light and CCD Based Digital Cameras
When most of us think of night vision devices we usually picture the elaborate electronic headgear or special cameras used by military personnel. We usually assume the technology is complicated and the price exorbitant and so we also assume that attractive as being able to see in the dark may be, its beyond the realm of us mere mortals. [...]
