What makes Golight Stryker Lights different from Golight RadioRay Lights?
Golight Strykers differ from Golight Radiorays in four ways. The Golight Stryker is a newer, sleeker design. Golight Strykers are easier to mount via a removable, interlocking mounting plate. The motors in the Golight Stryker have a higher torque rating and there is a greater range of speed difference between the fast and slow mode on the Golight Stryker. Finally, the Golight Stryker has a higher candlepower rating producing a working beam that is 150 feet longer than the Golight Radioray models. The video to the left shows the Golight Stryker in operation as it moves through it's full range of rotation and tilt. You can also view an animation of the Golight RadioRay in action here as well.

Navigating at night is made easier by having a partner on board to help with keeping watches, identifying other vessels and operating any auxiliary navigational aids you may need to use. It also pays to have either a dedicated spotlight mounted in the proper location or an effective portable unit that your partner can use to illuminate markers and buoys, use as a navigational aid when moving through inlets or heading into dock, or to illuminate possible obstructions or debris in the water ahead of your course if necessary.[...]
A common problem encountered when installing spotlights on a boat is the tendency for the lights to reflect from the surfaces of the boat itself causing glare and cause a loss of night vision, effectively blinding the user if only temporarily. While the area illuminated by the light may be immediately visible, the glare and loss of night vision makes it impossible to view anything outside this area. Spotlights mounted on the bridge or any point behind the bow can oftentimes spill much of their light on the foredeck or other surfaces, effectively creating a great deal of glare that can blind boaters whose eyes have become adjusted to low light levels.[...]
When it comes to sheer light power, there are few sources that can rival HID equipped lamps. HID, or “High Intensity Discharge” lamps utilize a set of contacts within a gas filled glass tube to produce an arc that ignites a reaction with the gas and creates a plasma reaction. This reaction once started is easily maintained with low voltage and produces an intense flood of illumination. Combined with specially designed reflectors and housings, these HID lamps are ideal for use in a wide variety of specialized applications where an intense and efficient source of illumination is needed. Available in almost any configuration imaginable, HID lamps are used extensively in military, law enforcement, industrial, agricultural, marine, and private applications on an increasingly frequent basis. Unlike traditional spotlights , the Stryker can be operated from up to 250 feet away, giving the operator the ability to direct the light wherever it is needed while out of the vehicle. This is a great benefit for security officers[...]
With responders often forced to perform in poor conditions and on call at all hours, the ability to brightly illuminate any scene regardless of the conditions is critical to their ability to respond effectively to an emergency.[...]
